John 14:5 Thomas saith unto
him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how
can we know the way?
When
Thomas asked unto Jesus Christ, we know not whither thou goest he was probably
wandering on the physical platform of life. For Thomas to understand the intricacies
of the kingdom of God was perhaps not that easy. He had his own doubts.
When
Jesus Christ stated, follow me and thee shall know
the path and the goal... Thomas was perhaps simply
living the life of a mortal on the physical plane
of life. Here Jesus Christ makes it clear that to
venture into the kingdom of God... one need to rise
above the mundane affairs of life.
Unless
one gains enlightenment and finally salvation... stepping into the abode of God
was not permitted.
The
kingdom of God... the abode of God aka Vaikuntha
in Hinduism is not a place located on Mother Earth
or nearby. None knows where in the whole of Cosmos
the kingdom of God is located. It is a concept that
has to be understood by digesting the pearls of
wisdom contained in the Bible.
We
have to assimilate the teachings of Jesus Christ. It is only then one can plan
a journey to the kingdom of God... a journey not in the physical manifest form
but as a liberated being. Every
soul atman is but a cluster of atoms and molecules. The complete dross within
having removed... every soul atman in the last manifestation of life... the 8.4
millionth manifestation reaches the stage of enlightenment and finally gains salvation. It
is thereafter a straight journey to the kingdom of God aka Vaikuntha in Hinduism.
In John 14:5 Jesus Christ
makes it clear that only those desiring reaching the kingdom of God can prepare
for it. Standing on the second floor of Empire State building one can never hope
of having the complete view of New York. One has to take the lift straight up
to the top floor for a full glimpse of the city. In
the domain of God... everything is governed by the doctrine of karma. As we sow
so shall we reap... nothing more or less! If Thomas was standing on the 40th floor...
was it possible for him to imagine anything about the kingdom of God... located
on the highest pedestal of cosmic life? Only
those desirous of reaching the ultimate goal of life can plan for it. Those who
do not see a goal ahead of them... is not competent enough to travel to the kingdom
of God. The element
of trust... the absolute faith in the benefactor the Jesus Christ is a must. Unless
we trust the benefactor in entirety... his sayings would prove futile. We can
only digest the pearls of wisdom contained in the teachings of Jesus Christ only
if we have full faith in his teachings. Never otherwise! Thomas
when he said unto Jesus Christ, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how
can we know the way? He was not the least aware of what he was talking of.
He was not living on the same platform as lived Jesus Christ. A
student of class one can never understand the books of class 10. That is just
not possible. The same happened with Thomas when he said, Lord, we know not whither
thou goest; and how can we know the way? It
is not that Thomas was being ignorant... he was simply working on a lower platform
of life. The message
of Jesus Christ in John 14:5 is clear... follow me and you shall complete your
journey of life.
Note: The Bible interpretation commentary
by Vijay Kumar... the Man who Realized God in 1993 would become clear only when
read with an unbiased and open mind. In the kingdom of God all are equal... God
Almighty does not differentiate between Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ
and Prophet Mohammed.
Having
gained enlightenment and finally salvation... these man gods reached the kingdom
of God in their lifetime. All paths... all religions and spirituality lead one
towards the one and only final goal... the abode of God aka Vaikuntha in Hinduism.
